Expansions

I know is a bit early to ask about this, but i just cant stop thinking about BA in the Pacific setting and Eastern Fronts...

Is there any hint about this being a posibility sometime in the future as an Expansion to the game?

Or we will have to rely on modds to visit those fronts?

What would you all out there like to see first?

I can imagine some D-Day campaign with Beach Landings as well. And definitely a Stalingrad Scenario/Campaign would be a blast.

And some Island fighting between Japs and Marines, with all those tunnels and bunkers....oh my.

How about fleshing out more units here first? Like the Brummbar, different marks of the PZIII(H, J, L etc) crusaders with 6pdrs, Sexton sps, just to mention a few.

I started working on some Pacific stuff. I am not an artist or modeler though. Another commitment has me busy at the moment but I will get back to it someday.

One thing I do need is caves. Bunkers can substitute but not ideal.

Some of the attack waves in the desert campaign remind me of Guadalcanal with armor thrown in.

It's a really great game. Thery could do an expansion for any part of WW2.

Eastern Front
France 1940
Pacific
etc.

Whatever they do I would buy it as I really love the game.

They actually introduced some new units in one of the latest patches, so i wouldnt be surprised to see some more coming in the near future. I am missing one of the most popular and reliables AT self propelled guns like the Jagdpanther. I would also love to see some motrcycles with sidecar for recon units as well.

Yes! Early blitzkrieg (Poland/Low Countries/France) is one very nice setting for WW2 games for me. I think probably easier to modd (since maps wouldnt be much of a change to actual ones) than Pacific and Eastern, that need different buildings, terrains, and lots of units for new countries so i see those coming in an Expansion.

Or maybe some artist out there is really willing to commit the time needed to modd these also. But i see that as a massive job to do.

This probably sounds weird, but I wouldnt mind seeing a modern day expansion, something like Battlefront's Combat Mission

I don't think an entirely new theme/era can be done as an expansion. It would require redoing all the artwork and several new game features. Ex: helicopters for a modern war game.

Blackhawks would be great. I dont see what would be difficult about it. Treat them like a truck, except with no terrain limitations.

Not saying it can't be done, just that it would be an entirely new game.

Helicopters in John Tiller's Divided Ground are basically an AFV with or without weapons and or carry capacity.
Steel Panthers adds landed, low level, high level status with appropriate LOS and firing ability.

How about adding the helicopters as support, just like aircraft for this game? At least attack ones would be fine

Transporting would need some new feature though, i guess...but the great achievement of this game is its simplicity on the surface, and i see that being developed with not too much effort.

When you mean new theme you dont mean other WW2 fronts, i suppose.....i really expect some official expansion with those coming out in the future :)

We are currently working on an expansion for BBC but I'm not saying what.

We also have ideas for new games using the engine but I'm not saying what.

We'll let you know something soon!

I am a modeller.... Well I know something about modelling (Final year games design student). I do not enjoy fiddling about putting things into the game and organizing it all, but I would be very happy to model vehicles and buildings etc as part of a mod team so that someone else could have all of the headaches.

I currently have a jeep sitting on my desktop. I made it with and without .50 cal and it's the same jeep that tim1966 used (after adding a gunner and a driver and re-texturing) in his LRDG mission. I haven't released it for you guys yet simply because I keep finding something more interesting to do....

So, I can model, texture and animate. If someone wants to take responsibility for making the models actually work correctly in game I would be up for taking on something like the Pacific theatre.

I have two reservations right now. The first is that I am just about to start my third year at uni and it's going to take up quite a lot of my time, and the second is that with my luck I would work on a mod that Slitherine are already making as an expansion and Iain won't tell us! :P

I am losing my job at the end of the month so who knows how much time or how long I will have to work on this kind of stuff.

junk - sorry to hear about your job mate - hope you pick something up soon.

As for expansions/mods/new games. Well I think the game is ripe for mods - 1940 would be excellent or any of the 'minor' theatre - Crete springs to mind (I'm very Anglo centric so I'd like to see Burma).

I think the Eastern Front would be a whole new game really. I'm not keen on modern stuff personally. Games companies do tend to go from Normandy/Western Front to Eastern Front (Close Combat, Combat Mission, Medal of Honour even).

Amaz_Ed - you really need to get that jeep out there for people to use. Its a great model.

I think we need a modding group perhaps who could at least swap ideas, models, scripts. I'm working on a project myself…not sure if it will work and I don't have much spare time but I'm enjoying myself!

I think the team needs to include the Jeep and the LRP Patrol jeep into the next update
