Strange Behavior

I have been playing BA for a few weeks mostly online in MP, but have finished all of the Desert and most of the Normandy campaigns in SP.
This weekend I went to our cabin which doesn't have internet. I tried to continue my single player games but when the game tried and failed to login to the internet it left me with limited access to my games. It was like I had just started the game for the second time or so because the latest mission that wasn't locked was the last tutorial mission where you call in air support. After doing this again the only option was to start the desert campaign again. It seemed as all my progress was lost. I could not load a save or even try to hook up to mp (which I knew I didn't have).
When I returned back home and to the internet I started BA again to continue my MP. Same thing...I had to do the last tutorial again and mp was not there. Once I did the tutorial again I could then choose to play the desert campaign or play MP. When going to the MP screen I had to put in my password again and then I could play.
The bad part is no matter how many times I play a turn and then quit the game, when I restart it I am at the same place...i.e. last tutorial and no MP. Very frustrating. I have even done a desert sp game to see if this helped but to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

So you took the same machine, but not being able to connect to the internet somehow made the system think that it was back before you unlocked campaigns??
Did you have any saves from in-battle? Were they available? You say you couldn't load a save - I assume you mean that the LOAD option was greyed out on the main menu - what about hitting ESC to bring up the loadsave menu?
There is nothing that it needs to get from the internet - the stuff you are talking about all lives in the My Documents\My Games\BBCBA\SAVES folder. I assume it's a laptop - are there any backup or other apps which might be preventing reading or writing of that directory just because you are offline?? I know it sounds a stretch, but just trying to think what might cause the issues.
It's certainly very odd! I'll have a go at repeating it tomorrow.
Cheers

I did have one save that I always used and just overwrit (is that a word?) If I did the last tutorial it would allow the load button to be chosen but when I tried to go back after that game I was in the exact same shape as before. Alas I even wrote over that save with a new one hoping it would allow me to continue where I was so my most recent save has it in the 'screwy' state.
Yes it is a laptop (ASUS G71 with windows 7 64 bit)and I have done this before and it worked fine. We go to our property quite often. Another funny quirk with it is that I can also play the Hells Kitchen scenario, or so it seems. When I start it the graphics partially load but it does not show the animated battlemap(the one with the text boxes that appear) and goes straight to the unit selection screen. That screen is also blank except for the background pic of the bombers. There is no text and no forces to choose from...totally blank except for background. If I hit the arrow to advance, the map loads and shows the corner of it before getting the objective failed prompt a few seconds latter. It then goes to the summary screen which is also empty except for the background and 'next' button at the bottom.
I have not changed anything with my computer and I should also note that I am allowed to play my MP turns as normal as long as I dint quit the game and do the tutorial first.
thanks

Not so obvious is the color of the lower buttons when selecting the battle from a campaign. If it is green you can play, gray you cannot. Use the <and> arrows to advance through the battles looking for the center button color.

Could the saved game be write protected or something to prevent saves updating?

I'm not sure what is going on but it is extremely frustrating that I have to do the last tutorial every time just to play MP. Not to mention the fact that my single player progress is lost. Is there a fix for this? Would a reinstall work and maybe someone can give me the save files so I can continue with my sp campaign near the end of Nomandy?
As it is, when I know that I will be playing a few turns I have to play the tut and keep the program minimized until a turn is posted.

If you could try selecting all the files in the My Documents\My Games\BBCBA\SAVES directory and ensuring that they are not write protected, that would remove one possible cause.

I'm sorry but how would I check that?

Go into the directory, select all the files, right click, and select Properties. There should be a Read-Only tickbox on the dialog.

when I check on the main folder and sub folders the attributes are all read only.

Well that would do it! Uncheck them and you should now get the progress correctly saved. No idea how they would become write protected. Were they backed up to a CD perhaps? That can sometimes cause it?

It didnt work..when I started it up the game was in the exact same state. I quit and the folders had read only checked again. I tried a couple more time(yes I hit APPLY when changing) and it is always the same with the reverted back properties.
What a pain I have become... Ive never had problems with games not working. Im thinking I might just finish my mp games and do a complete reinstall.
But what would explain the weird happenings with the Hells Kitchen scenario?

I can't imagine anything that would cause the entire folder to become write-protected. You could try renaming the BBCBA folder and seeing whether the new BBCBA folder which gets created behaves properly.
Does it revert when you run the game, or just doesn't change when you apply in Windows? Does the same thing happen if you only attempt to alter the files themselves inside the SAVES directory?
Is it a work laptop? Could it possibly have backup or other software which wants to phone home and is trying to protect your docs until it can?
Just trying to think of anything I can - it's certainly very odd!
