MP imbalance

IMHO If Panthers and Tigers are going to have a force field I think their numbers/quantity in scenarios for MP need to be re-evaluated .

Take “race for the town” with 3 panthers and 1 king tiger sure makes things one-sided don’t you think ?

If “historical accuracy “ was the objective with the patch I would think “historical numbers” of these beast on the battlefield should be also included.

I think the idea was to force sides to play to their strengths. You can't take them on head to head, but they can be taken out.

Having said that, we're always open to the views of the community on map balance :). It's supposed to be fun after all. What do others who have plated RftT think?

Cheers

I couldn't disagree more, Race for the Town is the most balanced and best MP scenario in the game right now... please don't change it.. it is a perfect mix of units on both sides. If you want to try, setup a game and I will let you be Germans, just PM me the password.

I have only played it once but it felt fairly balanced. I was German and I had only one Panther and one Puma left when my opponent surrendered. Maybe I misshandled my panzers but he showed me they could be taken out. The Königstiger were very prone to malfunction so I never had much help from it. It was taken out by heavy bombardment that got it down in moral and then destroyed by some inferior american tank  In fact my infantry was the main factor in achieving victory.

This is also my favorite MP map and believe is quite balanced. Its tough to win as the Allies but definitely doable if you dont go for the head to head option, which you will surely fail at. Outflankhing here is the key, although against a smart opponent is hard to achieve.

My only concern with this (as with any other MP scenario) is that knowing what and where your opponent is moving his units (because of that info bar on the bottom) can have an impact in the game.

Other than that its just a matter of not using Shermans like Panthers...they are quite different!

There is (in theory) - whether we keep that info is not certain! I will find out. Dunno how we would rate Surrenders though. And we'd have to watch out of Hotseat ;)

Can I post the game results , proving my point ?

Allied

8 Sherman’s ,1 jumbo
2 M36’s
4 M24’s
2 M10’s
1 Priest
1 Sherman rocket
12 M3 halftracks
1 M16 (AA)

4 squads of Airborne (moral @ 125)
1 50 cal
1 Bazooka
6 squads of reg Infantry

P47 , Artillery

Axis

4 Panthers
1 King Tiger
2 Marder III
3 Stug G
2 Puma
1 Wespe
2 SDKFZ 251/9
1 SDKFZ 251/1
10 SDKFZ 251/1
1 Flammpanzer
1 Wirblewind (AA)

6 squads of SS (moral @ 125)
5 squads of reg infantry
1 squad of Panzershreck

ME262 , Nebelwerfer

With 16-17 turns to turn the German flank and retain the majority of objectives is not going too happen with a player that KNOWS what “tactics “ the Allied forces need to employ against the German force field armor.

The German player needs to fight on a smaller front. You have to push in one place with all your armour. If you spreak out you'll get picked off. Hold one flank and push on the other or in the centre. If you avoid flank shots and short ranmge shots your heavy tanks are almost invulnerable.

I am just finihsing off a game where I've lost 1 Panther, 2 MarderIII's, the flampanzer, some half tracks and 4 infantry squads. The US have aroudn 4 tanks left and an infantry squad.

An inexperiecned German player will be easy meat but don't underestimate the power of 4 Panthers and KT!

WindyCity, okay fine if you know the tactics, then lets play. You be Germans I doubt you are going to run all over me like you think you will, but if you do then point proven maybe I just haven't played anyone that figured out the map yet. Check your PM i made a game
