Ranking-list only counts games against the AI.
Odd, but true.

That is odd
Assumming that every one who buys the game plays at least once against the AI that only a 1000+@copies of the game have been sold?

You're also assuming that everyone gets on the list.
(Not sure if that's true)
And assuming that everyone who buys the game also signs up for the forum.
(Which I know isn't true)
I suspect the number of copies is somewhat higher than the ranking-list may suggest.

There are also those who opt not to appear in the published ladder.

Run this by me again:
The rankings on the ladder here:

Seriously?

There is a discussion about Online Ranking (and leveled battles) here:

Personally I'm all for online rankings. As long as there is an option for players not to participate.

Well, I guess that explains why I'm ranked higher than the guy from work who routinely kicks my ass in multiplayer!
