In each scenario there are a list of achievements you could get such as destroy X tanks or prevent VP to be captured.

Not sure what´s their use...do you receive extra units or unlock new missions if you win a scenario and also get that achievements?

Nothing. Those are just secondary objectives that you may want to achieve on your next run if you missed it.
