TYW Book

Am looking for a book on the 30 TYW, a written eyewittness account something to give the feel of the period more so than battles/campaigns something about the soldiers life that sort of thing. Any help most welcome.

Not of TYW but it could help (its book is autobiography and doesn't fall in the picaresque novel):

What a mess! No wonder the Imperialists dominated, as they were the only ones in for the long haul.
Maybe the ECW is not so tangled after all . . .

I just brought The Thirty Years War Europe's Tragedy by Peter H Wilson ISBn 978-0-674-0634-5 from Barnes & Noble for $35, or just over a buck a year !
