maps on internet

Are there any better map-sites on internet than google maps? I am most interested of height contours. Maybe some maps from France and England etc.
From Finland, for example I can find a very good map via kartat.eniro.fi (contains Scandinavia and is free). There are even contours at 5 meter intervals.
