HI!
Someone wrote:
[In addition to the notepad++ editor already mentioned, would also like to add Gimp as a possible image editor. With a plugin can save as DDS files, with an added bonus that its free.
Gimp found at
http://www.gimp.org/]
But I can't open the dds.file?
What am I doing wrong?

I downloaded the nVidia plugins for photoshop but I am unable to open the Churchill and Churchill_D textures. I'm using Photoshop CS4. The program tells me that it could not complete my request because it is the wrong kind of document.

Have you already installed the plugin?

I work with gimp and the dds files without any problem.

We use the nVidia DDS plugin for pshop, but you might need to double-check it's the version for your pshop version?
Cheers
Pip
Thanks!

For Gimp user : to have no problem with transparency: On the "Save as DDS" dialog box, set Compression to "BC3 / DXT5" and check "Generate mipmaps" and click OK.
I'm posting this here because I struggled to figure out why my icons had a pretty big black square
