I don't visit the Normandy beach but see pictures; so that I don't think, the "desert sand" will be the right chaoice, but try pls.
under "french tiles"
dark grass, dried grass, bumby grass
under "french overlays", river edge and rough edge
under " desert objects"
"flat rocks-1-2-3"
"boulders"...

Hi there,
I found the trickiest part to be edging the sea and the sand. You might think about using the "river edging" tiles from the desert overlay tile set to create the join between the sand and the sea. If the default generic sand isn't the right color for the look you want, you can use "light sand" from the Desert tile set or "Dust" from the Normandy Tile set, and then use the "Sand Edge" tiles from the Desert Overlay set to join the two together. It leaves a feint line of darker sand at the waters edge, but I think that looks quite nice, as if the tide is going out. Then, at the top of the beach, I'd join the sand into the grass with the "Blend" tiles from the French Overlay tile set.
As previously mentioned, the desert's flat rocks and boulders look good, while the French "rough ground" tiles look a little like seaweed encrusted rocks. And of course, there are all the tank traps and other obstacles to put down to get the whole DDay look

.
Hope that helps.
