While checking in to look at their knights, I noticed that Donnington has added two new lines of Dark Ages types - Norse Irish and Vikings. The Irish and the bondi archers are particularly nice. The Berserkers are not especially exciting, but thet point is moot I suppose.

I still wish that we could get a USA distributor of Donnigton, or if not that, it would be great if the overseas shipping charges were a little bit more reasonable.

Well you know we euro's have in a way the same problem. They add shipping costs at a % of the amount paid instaid of the real shipping cost...

Shipping is brutal. The stairstep progression on the shopping cart needs to be watched carefully when ordering.

These examples sort of press the limit though.

The pronounced bosses are thought to reflect an offensive use of shield - smashing the boss into an opponents face. Where tightly packed shieldwalls begin to dominate over looser, individual fighting, the bosses become flatter and usually smaller. Germanic shields from the Migration Period are often steeply pitched, and even spiked.

Okay, the form might be historical but the size? They seem far too oversized for me.

Great Hall Games in Austin, Texas, sell the new era Donnington Medievals in BG packs. Rob and the gang ship fairly quickly too.

I am inclined to agree. This is one of the problems I have with lead spears too, as it looks like the warriors are sparring with or hurling dock pilings.

I think nail clippers and a file will settle the shield boss problem, if a good paint job doesn't.

Actually, I like both the Berserker and the Ulfhednar. They should look good mixed in with other figures in a BG or on a commander's stand. (On the other hand, I'm comparing them with the Bersekers I have in my 30 year old 25mm Viking army so maybe there are better figures available .
