Is anyone experiencing these issues?

Hi All,
Just curious if this is the same for everyone or just me...
1) Doesn't matter what resolution i set the game to...it all looks the same...somewhat clumsy and not very detailed. (I'm using 1140 x 900 32pp).
2) In game animations run super fast, flicker and stutter.
3) I have no counter to show how many turns are remaining.
appreciate any help that can be provided.
cheers,
DW

You shouldn't see flickering animations or stuttering (unless you are in MP, in which case the speeding over non-action can cause it). The more specific you can be the better.
Every mission with a turn limit should show a turn counter - could you have toggled it off? Can you try toggling it back on with the i icon.
Moving to the Tech Support forum.
Cheers

Wonder if it is a machine running Vista ... he wouldn't be the first one with a problem.

Mesadon,
I am, in fact, running on vista.
It sounds like there are some issue with Vista as the OS...any plans to address these?

Which missions specifically are you not seeing onscreen information for? Or is it all missions?

It happens on all missions and the many of the screens prior to starting the game but only with Vista and not with my XP netbook (same Intel graphic set) While it is playable on my Vista laptop, there are dark lines that run across the screen that follow pop up info as they scroll such as: ambush, destroyed, and all the others that go from bottom to top. It also blanks out across the selected unit data. Seems that (and I don't know the tech terms) anything that is over the basic map and units are crossed with these dark lines. when the scrolling words etc. leave the screen the lines move off with them.
I have a screen dump showing this but have no idea how to post it.

Hmmm - ok, I haven't managed to get a setup to test out why the Intel chips might be doing something so odd.
Can you try opening the user.txt file in your My Documents\My Games\BBCBA directory, and adding the line:
SAFEMODE 1
To see whether it helps at all. Even if it doesn not it might give me more to go on.
It would explain why there were some displays missing if it's not correctly rendering the text items.

Also, does the problem persist if you run the game with shadows off?

Pip,
So, i'm playing on an older desktop which is running XP and having none of the issues that i was having on Vista.
However, everytime i hit escape (to save my progress) the game crashed to desktop...this is extremely frustrating because it's not autosaving so i have to start over again from the tutorial. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me there's a hotkey to save (ALT-S) or some such...
I've noticed and have seen mentioned that the auto save is bugged and doesn't kick in until you rename the folder.
thx mate,
DW

I have the same Intel chip for graphics in my netbook ... it runs perfectly with XP. I am missing nothing wish I could send you or post the F2 image I took, that would give you a better idea.

That crash should be fixed by the update I put out on Thursday. have you got 1.3.4 running? Are you sure it updated correctly (check on the top left of the initial loading screen).
I'm not sure what you mean about renaming - you shouldn't need to do so.

As this problem seems to be the same one I have been having on my vista laptop (as reported previously) I thought I'd give this a go.
If anything it made it worse now as well as the black lines I got flickering lines at the bottom part of the screen as well.
Hope we find a solution soon.

Did disabling shadows help the issue at all?

Pip,
I haven't update to 1.34 yet as i run that desktop machine offline. (I'm predominately enjoy SP vs MP hence no need for that machine to be online.) However, i'll update and hopefully that will resolve the issue.
I'll let you know this afternoon.
cheers,

I'm trying to set up a machine to rep on - but it's a very old laptop, and getting up to date is proving very VERY slow

. But I'm hoping I can at least replicate the issue, then I can try and see what is going on.
So rest assured I'm trying to work it out.

So the laptop I thought had the correct chipset in fact has an even older one

.
One thing I would suggest, can you try the following:
Right click your shortcut, select disable desktop composition from the compatability tab
And see whether that helps. Remember to turn off the SAFEMODE tweak as you said it makes it worse. Also, does the issue occur when running in a window?
Cheers
