Umayyad Arab: Special instructions regarding Berbers

In the Special Instructions for the Umayyad Arab List (Decline and Fall pg 45) it says "Berbers cannot be used with any other allies, nor with Khurasanians, Turks, Dailami or Hillmen" Is this only refering to the Berber Allies or does it also mean that the optional Berber troops cannot be used when using non-Berber allies or Khurasanians, Turks, Dailami or Hillmen from the optional section. I can find no clarification in the FAQ.
Thanks

I would read that as applying to both, so you could use Berber troops with Berber allies, but no others and you can use neither with the other excluded types.

It wmeans any berbers. Presumably the version with the berbers is the Ummayad army from the Mahgreb, which wouldn't have many of the Eastern troop types?

Thanks everyone.
My thought was that it meant all Berbers but it could (just) be interpreted as applying only to the Allies.

As a general rule in such cases, assume that the more likely/stricter interpretation is correct. If you don't, a list-checker probably will, whether or not it was the original intention of the list authors.
If you think you have spotted a cunning alternative interpretation that will allow you something extra, kill that thought, you will save yourself and other people a lot of time and trouble.

Thought crime....plus conviction and punishment without due process.
