Playing online? Never Miss Another Turn!

I have updated the system tray tool to track any waiting Battlefield Academy turns. Simply run the tool and it will sit in your system tray and periodocally check for any turns which are playable.
http://www.slitherine.com/files/SysTray/SysTray.zip
Note that this version replaces the current one which only looks for FoG games. This version will check for both at once, so you only need run this one version if you also play FoG online.
To have the tool run all the time, simply drop the EXE into the Startup folder on your Programs list.
[Edit: Updated to prevent flashing and showing turns which are hotseat games.]
Enjoy!

If we use this, can we get rid of the email notifications?

I think you can turn them off by going to Your Page and unchecking them.

SysTray file flagged as a Trojan?

I ran SpyBot (routine scan) and it flagged this file as a Trojan and eliminated it. Any thoughts on why?
Also, I tried instead to turn *on* email notifications (using my profile)...and have yet to get a single email (despite multiple turns waiting). Is that system working?

It seems to work for most people - you should check your spam filter.
Spybot probably noted that it was a small app which communicates with the net, and so flagged it. Not much we can do about it

As anyone who reads the FoG forum knows I am in love with this app. I have notices an annoying little thing. With the play yourself MP games the blinking does not end until you finish your hotseat MP. To check and see if it is my turn with another person on BA or FoG, I have to click and check the number of each game in which it is my turn. I don't know if anything can be done, just an observation.

Ha! Indeed. I will get it to ignore games which you are playing yourself.
Thanks

Trying this out and it did notify me when I had a turn waiting, however after finishing and sending the turn off it is still flashing 10-15 minutes later and saying there is a turn waiting when there isn't. How often does it update itself?
Also am using Win7, where would I put it so it loads every time I startup?
Edit: Hmm, it doesn't seem to be updating itself at all, still flashing the one turn waiting when I have none or new turns.

It should update every minute or so. Maybe 2. If it is failing to update is it possible that it is losing connection for some reason? I know that some ISPs will rotate IPs etc, which might cause some issues. I will see whether I can tweak the code so it re-connects every time to handle situations like this.
Thanks for the feedback

This seems to explain fairly well how to set up Win7 apps for startup running.

OK - I have uploaded an updated version for you to try out. It can be grabbed from:
http://www.slitherine.com/files/SysTray/SysTrayTest.zip
It should reset the internet connection if it doesn't hear back from the server for some reason (on a 3 min timeout). Can you give it a try and see if it solves your issues?
Thanks!

Thanks for the help Pip. I found the Startup(duh!) and will give the new Systray tool a go and let you know.
Edit: Seems to be updating/working properly now. Thanks!

Ok perhaps not all is well. Left the computer for a bit, enough for it to go to sleep. When I wake up the computer I check the Systray first thing and it says no turns waiting, I quickly check the BA PBEM server and see I do have turns, so I close the BA program and I wait about 10 minutes to see if anything updates but no, nothing changes. I have Windows 7 Professional 64bit btw. Anyways, now that I am back online I will see if the Systray updates again.

Hmmm - not sure about what would happen with sleeping. Although in theory it should just retry and reconnect. Please let me know whether it recovers.
Thanks

Yes it did eventually recover and start updating again, not sure how long it took. TBH I can live with that
