Bursting through when routing

Hi,

hopefully a quick one. When a units routs has no place to go (its ultimate final destination is blocked by enemy), and will be removed. Does it actually perform as much of the rout as it can and then get removed (potentially bursting through intervening friends) or is it removed without making any move (because it ulimately can't?). Do friends 'in the way' drop ?

and before any asks, yes it was messy :D

thanks

If they can't get to the other side and stop 1 MU from enemy they do not go through at all. A serious downfall of surrounding your puny Roman enemies.

So, they stand and die, rather than attempt to run... Friends behind remaining safe?

Does that move consitute a rout in that case? does the victorious BG get to pursue (even though the enemy died where they stood)? I'm guessing their pursuit would limited to the extent of the rout (ie nothing)... so wouldn't move?

Sounds a bit advantageous to the loser really IMHO

They would move as far as they could until stopped by the fact that they couldn't get through their own friends. But yes it is very advantageous to them. I wasn't too happy.

A routing unit routs, as far as it can. At the end of the JAP it is removed so pursuers would make a pursuit move and end in contact one would assume, then the broken enemy would vapourize and the table would miraculously clear.
If a broken units path is blocked I believe they have to move away from the nearest enemy but can't get closer to other enemy, turns are free for routers so no wheels etc, just panicked move in new direction. If friends are in the way then they get burst through.
Why routing and crowded battle fields dont mix.

That was the whole point to this thread. It seems that is a Bg can't complete it's route move , due to enemy in it's path it's doesn't route. It dies on the spot... Thus saving friends directly behind from being burst through.

Seems a bit too good for the loser in this scenario... But that how it seem to have adjudicated.

Remembering that a BG can't wheel during a route , in in contact with the enemy. Just a potential 1 base shift.

Thanks
