What is the format for the sounds?
For converting sounds I like Audacity and it's free.

16 24 32 bit, 11k 22k 44k Hz, mono stereo

It will play whatever is used. I would recommend 44 16 mono as being fine, as we pan sfx around. UI sfx could be stereo if it makes sense.
