Curious about unit unloading onto cliffs

I know i saw this a few weeks ago about the Normandy campaign, but in the Desert campaign, with the british forces on the attack to take out the 88s, I am able to move trucks and bren carriers to the edge of a cliff, and unlaod my units onto the cliff face, then the soldiers can then sally over the top, and attack the fixed fort positions defending the middle main ridge line. The question I have, is, if I walk or move the infantry and engineers to the base of the cliff by foot, they are unable to scale the exact spot they can when being unloaded.... possible bug, or is this by design that the only way up is by being offloaded onto the cliffs. its a simple work around, for me, and that to either walk the troops to the base, load them onto a truck or bren, then off load them onto the cliff face... but not sure this is per specs or historical... any ideas.. will post jpegs if you want me to

Hmm, seems to me an exploit. I thought this was going to be blocked a few versions back, but since the central plataeu map isn't included anymore, I guess we didn't get to check very well.

here is are a series of 3 screen shots
one with troops at base of cliff, unable to advance up it
the next where they have been loaded onto a bren carrier, at the base of the cliff
the last one shows they were unloaded onto the face of the cliff

with this one you can clearly see the bren is loaded, and the off load symbol is displayed for the troops to advance up the cliff face
the final one here

from this position they can move up and over, and attack the gun position on top of the ridge

i like the idea of being able to assault the ridge line with infantry and engineers,.,
also
on the opposite side of the ridge line, there is a position where any infantry and engineers can simply walk on down to the desert floor..... towards the position of the right side of the ridge line
btw
this was the desert campaign, frontal assault mission
