Error with download of purchased game - corrupt gz file?

I have just purchased the mac version of FoG. After downloading the file 'FieldOfGlory-1.2.8c.dmg.gz' I get an error when trying to open the file using Archive Utility, saying 'Unable to unarchive "FieldOfGlory-1.2.8c.dmg.gz" into "Desktop". (Error 1 - Operation not permitted.) I have tried re-downloading the file 4 times with the same result. I have also tried the latest version of stuffit expander 2010 to open it, which complained that 'The item FieldOfglory-1.2.8c.dmg was created by a newer version of StuffIt', upon proceeding anyway, the resulting dmg was not recognised. Finally tried winrar in my win 7 machine, but that also failed, complaining that the file was corrupt.

I am using MacBook Pro (2010) with OS X 10.6.4. No AV running.

Sorry you are having problems. Are you using a download manager - it may be inteferring? Basically the error message is that the file is corrupt because it did not download corectly so you need to try again.

Not running any additional download manager, just using firefox. Tried again today with safari instead and that seems to have done the trick as it has downloaded and unpacked the dmg, thanks.

I can now run the game okay, but when I try to update using the inbuilt updater, it just loops round and round saying Downloading patch 1 of 4 and when gets to 100% it validates it and then starts downloading 1 of 4 again. After a while of this it will then fail with a pop up saying 'Sorry could not download the update. Details HTTP Status 200. Could not validate downloaded file.'

Sorry you are still having problems. What kind of connection are you using? Lan/wireless/dial up etc?

Fundamentally this is just a file download issue. I'm not sure how we can help - you just need to keep trying until you can downlaod the file. It is quite large so this is probably the issue.

There is nothing we can really do to help with the connection between your machine and the file - the file is being served ok to others so it does nto seem to be an issue this end.
