Is anyone else playing with later russian or Lithuanian much?

I have just ordered my first 28mm army - later russians from gripping beast.

roughly the army is going to along the lines of:

I am going to be abel to field:

4 generals

6 Bg Cavalary superior armoured undrilled Bw/Sw (russians) or ltspBw*/Sw (lithuanians)
3 BG Light horse average Bw/Sw (russians) or ltspBw*/Sw (lithuanians)
2 Bg LF bow average
1 BG defensive spear
1 Bg teutonic knights
15 field defenses
1 Bg of artillery : light (russian) heavy (lithuanian)

I was thinking of the undrilled version of an ottoman deployment with artillery and HF behind Portable obstacles with cav advancing on both wings, evadign back if need be with a flank charging Cav reserve behind the FD in the centre.

Any other ideas?

Most of the Cav armies about appear to be drilled to maximise the manourverability advantage. Is anyone doing ok with undrilled cav armies?

What about the mix of average/superior adn the mix of Bw/sw to ltsp/Bw*/sw

I've used undrilled light spear/sword cavalry in numbers with Franks and found them very effective. Drilled would be better (an extra point is worth it for the manouverability). Avoid taking on lancers head on.

Yes its amazing how that exra point for the impact of the Lance can damage light spear cavalry.

I would not put the HF behind fortifications. its redundant. Put them next to it.

I thin that is too many field defenses.

in 25mm consider an FC for a flank march option.

Also in 25mm I would get more superior as the manuver game is harder and you are more likely to have to fight before the day is over
