Impact question: who do I fight?

Through clever work in my maneuver phase I manage to set up a legal flank charge for next turn. In order to accomplish this, my BG ends up in column, with its front corner exactly one gnat's todger from the enemy BG's side edge. For various reasons the enemy BG cannot get out of its predicament, so my opponent moves a second BG into position exactly one gnat's todger away from the other front corner of my BG. I have another BG that can charge my opponent's second BG, so there is no intercept issue to worry about.

Question 1: when my BG charges which enemy BG will it fight? Do I get to choose?

Question 2: Under the circumstances, my BG will not be able to conform. Can I feed bases in?

I believe he who has the greater number of bases gets to choose who you fight. I ran into a situation like that and I didn't get to fight the guys I had declared as my charge target, I contacted 3 BGs with my pikes, due to the way they were lined up and so my opponent chose the other 2 BGs to fight, which had better POA's versus my pikes than my original target did. And then we could not conform either which was a bigger mess as I had to fight by his choice in melee and it just got ugly from there.

I can't see why you can't feed bases in, your in frontal contact, it would certainly resolve your 1 base contacting 2 enemy bases issue so I would guess you would end up with 1 base on each enemy, takes it away from the sneaky so and so deciding who you get to fight and might allow you to conform later after the expansion.

Hmmm. Good point about the side with the greater number of bases getting to pick which ones fight. Assume, then, that my opponent chooses to fight with the base contact to its front, rather than the one contacted to the flank. Does the flank charged BG still lose a cohesion level?

Yup as it is the contact that causes the drop - rules say "Battle groups which are contacted ..."

Couldn't you charge both of his BGs with your two BGs? Then if contacted bases were even or you had the advantage, as moving player you could choose which melee to fight first and pit your first BG against the enemy's first BG's flank?

If you look at the rules of how many bases fight this is resolved differnently than by moving player.

I believe the situation was that he could flank charge one unit and was set up for an interception charge with the other, but would still end up hitting both units with the charge, quite and odd situation to say the least. Perhaps if his opponent did not move he could have hit both those enemies on the same turn.
