LF and LH trapped against edge of board?

Since the recent updates, I've noticed that evading LH and LF stop when they hit the last hex row on the board edges (left and right), and tend to therefore get run down from behind by their pursuers, even if there is clear space all around that they could have continued down. Anyone else notice this?

I have not. I have seen skirmishers chased off all 4 sides. Maybe they have run out of movement points and can't get any further?

I think what happens is that you can evade off map from the top or bottom but with the edges they effectively count as a wall but if routed then you can rout of the sides still.

As for evading to open space it all depends on the direction of the attack and positioning of other troops. Basically you'll evade directly away rather than at right angles.

I'm not savvy enough to have done the screen capture, so have to describe as best I can. It's happened several times to me. I can say that the units did not run out of MPs. On eone occasion, the unit only evaded back one hex and hit the edge, and then stopped. It's not just evading to that point and stopping. If they do that, then they're sitting ducks the next turn. Starting on the edge, they can get caught against it.

The major point for me is that I don't recall seeing LF/LH get trapped against the board edges like this before; they would evade. It seems a new development.

They could be caught before though it was harder to achieve but now with the new rout logic they will evade away and then get stuck on the edge. Basically they evade away from the direction of attack and to their rear hexes. Remember that units who evade first change direction then move which means depending on direction of charge that the rear move will head towrds the edge and end regardless of leftover MP's.

I have had several games where enemy LH evade off into the side and then stop there. Now I did not do a replay after my enemies turn but I noticed my pursuing LH had disappeared too, and there was no enemy around them at the beginning of my turn.

Have never had anything run off the field following routed or evading enemy. You sure?

Rumour has it they were last seen heading into Germania, the LH were still doggedly pursuing!

Issue resolved, it was a different game same enemy that I had the LH that had chased their targets off the map. My opponents turn was a few days delayed and I had remembered that I had LH down there but forgot which battle it was. They are safe and sound and killing Persians happily once again.
