I just downloaded and installed the beta, and played a few scenarios in the desert campaign. Some initial impressions here (I haven't read through all the posts yet, so forgive me if some remarks are redundant):

How does the user interface feel?
-> The interface feels OK once you get used to how it works. In fact it is quite efficient. Is there a way to tilt the camera? I feel I need a better overview of the battlefield without having to resort to the 'M' key.

How does the game look?
-> Actually I like the comic book feel of the game.

Did you understand what you were supposed to do?
-> Yes, even I understood what I was supposed to do.

Did you enjoy the scenarios?
-> So far: yes. I like my scenarios nice and small, and these fit the bill.

Were there any bugs?
-> Not really bugs, but a few annoyances. The game became very, very laggy after a few turns to the point where I wanted to quit and reload. But...no in-game save possible? I run a quad core 2.33 GHz processor and a Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT under Vista. Nothing fancy, but not totally outdated, either.
-> I found the camera shake upon air and artillery strike overdone.
-> The Italians speak German and their units display a German cross.
-> Is there a way to cycle through your units? That would help a lot.

Did you find the game too easy or too hard?
-> I managed...so far.

What is your overall impression of the game?
-> This is a fun game. The only thing that I can't live with is the awful lag, which makes the game almost unplayable at the moment.

More to follow as I play along...

İtalian sounds are prepared and will be in the original game. (It was written by the admin!)

İtalian cross could be made by modders, I think!

With "Tab key" you can cycle through your units!

We've not seen any lag reported before. Can you describe what happens specifically (I know it's quite hard). One thing to check is whether you have the vsync turned off in the nVidia control panel, as this can do odd things. You should also ensure you are updated with the latest nVidia drivers.

You can save at any time by hitting ESC and using the load/save menu.

Thanks for all the good feedback :).

The game became very, very laggy after a few turns to the point where I wanted to quit and reload.

Drop your screen-size down to 1024x next time you load up, and see if that helps.

The thing that confuses me is it >became< laggy - any performance issues should be fairly immediate and constant, as we don't really add anything to the model once the battle begins.

I switched the shadows to simple. This does not rally affect the visuals, but the lag has disappeared.

That's odd - but glad it fixed the problem!
