Bizarre battle-chance bug/issue

Edit: Problem explained: the interface presently reports the wrong number of dice; archers get bonus dice for frontal-impact combat, but the interface display ignores this and reports less dice than it should (even though the extras are actually rolled and counted). If you charge an archer unit, it will say 4 dice against 4 dice, but will then roll the additional dice regardless.
Here are two screen captures from an ongoing match between myself and Deadtorious:
and
I don't understand why I would have 56% chance of inflicting a cohesion test on one hex, and only 38% on the other. The POAs are identical. When I click verbose mode, I am met with the following calculations for the 38% hex:
A:[None, POA=1, die rolls=4, E(hits)=2]
+1 Off. Sp...
(this +1 POA is identical for both hexes, so I didn't type it out in full.)
D:[None, POA=0, die rolls=4, E(hits)=2]
(no POA)
For the good hex (which is the one I will click as soon as I am done typing this; I've alt-tabbed out because I'm confused right now), the first part for A is identical. For D, however,
D:[None, POA=0, die rolls=4, E(hits)=1.333333]
Eh? How does that work then, the exact same data displayed, but suddenly the 2 drops to 1.333333.
Anyway, I don't understand this and I assume it is some sort of weird bug or there is a secret calculation I that the user interface does not make us privy to.

Forgive my terrible, uneven cropping skills. Those screenshots are from the exact same position of the battlefield, just with the mouse cursor indicating an attack from two different hexes.
Also, good news is that the 56% hex paid off. Deadtorious now has a disordered infantry unit to go with his quivering chariot ladies.
EDIT: Oh yes, and some poor hoplites snuck around and fragmented that disordered chariot unit being piled on by three pike phalanges. :p

I expect that it is due to the pre-impact fire of the bows when you hit them front the front; they can't fire when you hit their flank.
Poor Deadtorious! I hope he is doing better elsewhere on the map......

Is there a quality difference?

I agree it is the lack of supporting bow fire when the archers are hit in the flank hex side instead of the front. When the archers are hit frontally, they get 2 extra attacks for the supporting bow fire. These will be at one PoA worse than their normal PoA for shooting at the hoplites but still improves their odd.

What about the POA for a flank attack?

You only get POA for flank attack in melee NOT impact

Don't seem to get the flank bonus unless the victim is already engaged with another unit. Otherwise, you can only get the rear bonus.
I think the verbose output option should certainly make some sort of reference to this archer bonus; right now, there is no indication at all.

Didn't realise that. Dosen't having bows in a unit give you six dice in frontal impact?

I think the verbose output in the display window does show the extra attacks, e.g. shows 6 instead 0f 4, but I don't think it shows PoA informatin for the support shooting.

Nah, definitely did show the extra dice rolls. I typed it out exactly as it appears, and anyway you can see in the image itself that the number didn't chance for the dice rolls (you can see there is a 4 in each picture).

It doesn't show them in the area in the bottom center but it will show the extra die roles in the display window (the black box with white font) when you actually perform the combat.

alright then, mystery solved. It turns out there is a bug; it displays 4 dice instead of 6 dice in the bottom part of the window.

So... any confirmation as to whether this bug is going to be fixed? I just encountered it again, with some ill-advised charges against spear/archer combo units. The unit display doesn't list that it has a bow, and the interface says it only has a 4 on the impact round, but but examining the percentages you can clearly see that it is actually rolling more dice when you hit it from the front.
The interface, as it is right now, is outright mistaken as to the number of dice that will be rolled during impact combat.
