Unhandled Exception?

Thought I better put this in a separate thread. I am new to the beta so hi to you all :)

I downloaded the game and installed it with no problems. When I go to run the game I get the initial screen giving me the options of screen size etc but when I click okay the screen drops and I get the following:

UNHANDLED EXCEPTION!
ExpCode 0xC000001D ExpFlags: 0 ExpAddress: 0x0046FB63

PLEASE REPORT!

I have tried various graphic settings and when I go down to 1280 x 800 a new screen starts to open but then the same error comes up. I have done some reg checks to ensure all is well and everything appears fine. I have other games that are running just fine including FOG from Slitherine.

Thoughts? Ideas for solution? Anyone run into this sort of thing? This is a very first for me.

Can you please give us your machine specs. Also, have you got DirectX 9 installed (the download beta doesn't include it). Once we have your specs we'll be able to dig deeper.

Cheers

Video is NVIDEA GeForce 5500

Yes I have DirectX 9

Need anything else?

Do you have the very latest drivers for you nVidia card?

You should also try turning off the sound and/or shadows from the launcher. It might help track down the issue.

Also, can you please post the contents of the error.log file which will be create in My Docs/My Games/BBCBA please. It will help us work out what is going wrong.

Thanks

Pip

Pip, tried the no shadows, no music, didn't make any difference. I rechecked all my drivers and all is good to go, even reloaded DirectX just to be sure. All my other games are working fine.

That is very odd. I'm not sure what can be causing the problem - it's an older card, but the game is designed to run fine on them. It seems to be perfectly happy right up until the game attempts to render anything, then boom.

Have you tried all the resolutions and bit-depth combinations? It might be some oddness with the amount of video memory available.

Thanks - we will keep trying to get you running! If nothing works I will try and put together a test EXE before the weekend.

I have tried a few but will go through the list from the bottom up and let you know.

Pip, I have tried reloading the new drivers for the video card (again) and then the old drivers and then back again - all with no luck. Up and down the range of choices and still no luck. I have re loaded just about anything I can think of to get past the problem but nothing seems to work.

Hmm, there was one glitch I had this version that I never came across before. During playing I hit windows key to do something on the desktop. But my screen defaulted to some really low resolution.

I tabbed back into the game, but when I left my desktop was still the wrong size. Changing my computer settings refused to do anything, until the I finally re-booted and changed them again. Never had this happen before. Maybe it's just a coincidence...

Sorry - didn't manage to get extra code in to check out your crash in 1.1 - will try hard to get something to you today. It's certainly very odd, even on an older card.

Thanks for your patience!

Cheers
