Demo & Search ?

Hi, as a Mac user I'm a very recent player of FoG (with all expansions) and I really enjoy both the AI battles and multiplayer. However, a couple of newboy questions:

1. Why no demo of FoG ? I have several friends who are quite interested in FoG and like what they can see on my machine but would really like to be able to try it before they buy it (so to speak), especially as the potential outlay is fairly substantial if you want to be able to play with all the armies and features. Are there any plans of creating a demo version of this to try and pull in waverers ? I could imagine that a full version of the base FoG game restricted to only one battle would be a very effective advert.

2. Why no search facility for this forum ? There may well be a question (and answer) for my first question above but I really can't see myself trawling through dozens of pages to try and find it.

Keep up the good work .. looking forward to the 15th :D

Could be a cost issue for making a trial version of the game, you would have to cut out most of the armies etc. Up to a dev to answer that one I guess.

There was a search button on the forums many moons ago, I believe some one pointed out the missing search button way back. Not sure if you will see one added again or not.
Welcome to Fog and enjoy :)
If you want some anarchistic fun check out the campaign forum and look for lost world. It is an open campaign that you can join in on anytime

For the demo I agree, it depends how they've built the application although I feel that it ought to be possible given that when I bought the expansion packs they were enabled with no additional downloads.

I wonder what happened to the search function ? I thought that was pretty standard stuff.

Thanks for the heads up to Lost World, it looks like fun and I'll check it out when I get back from my hols.

We are planning a demo, but designing it such that players get the best experience of the game isn't as simple as it might appear :).

The search function was causing problems when spiders tracked over the website, so it is disabled for now - but we are working on re-enabling it.

Cheers
