HELP!!!! My problem is when I play as Allies the DAK Rommel forces in North Africa they did not deploy in Libya....may be it is necessary to change the parameters in general.txt but how and what??? (even at beginning of scenario in 1941 plan of Barbarossa they sail away back in Yugoslavia).Norway is the same problem...
version is GS 1.12 patch 1.06

I want to play by history timeline and have some good results but Germany are still dont want to make sea operations in Norway and North Africa and its sad.Operation D-day (Overlord) is the marine landing so why the German African corps and intruding to Norway is impossible to make historical?when playing by Allies since 1939.

I'm afraid that the problem with the allied AI not "choosing" to invade Norway or reinforce and make a push in North Africa result from the coded logic and not any data settings. Bottom line is that the axis AI just ignores those two areas and this is a result of it's coded logic. We, the GS mod team, did not attempt to improve the AI as our main target for the expansion was human to human and hotseat play.

If you're interested in playing an "historical" game against the AI then that's really only possible against the allied AI (see viewtopic.php?p=153981#153981 ). If you want to play one as the allies then I would suggest hotseat.

Thank you! One more question in case of Finland 1941 (after Gs 1.12 patch) german unit is being deployed by sea in any situation and attack Leningrad. Is it possible to do the same to Norway and North Africa?

I played for Axis "historical" (just near the main events ) but Allies scenario is more interesting because you may play 6 long years and only bad moment is this Norway and Africa.

(internet play is just a mayhem with Sea Lion and like this)

I'm afraid not. In terms of Norway, the axis AI will just ignore it, which is probably a good thing because of it's poor amphibious play. A human allied player that opposed an AI axis invasion of Norway could wreak all kinds of havoc. Though, one thing that might interesting to try out is what would the axis AI do if the allied human player declared war on Norway, didn't do anything there and let the axis AI respond. Even if the axis AI didn't send troops, in effect, you could use an allied DOW on Norway without moving an allied units there to represent the axis invasion and occupation of Norway.

In terms of North Africa, we (the GS dev team) originally did have the DAK tank corps in Tripoli when Italy activated. However; we found in our play testing that some players preferred to move that tank unit out and use it for Barbarossa. So, we decided to remove the DAK and makeup for that by giving the axis player enough additional PPs per turn so that they have accumulated an additional 80 PPs by the spring of 1941. Then, each axis player could decide if they wanted to build the "DAK" and send it to North Africa or not. Our objective in making the GS expansion was to allow players the most flexibility possible within the constraints of "reasonable/realistic" historical variations and the CEAW game engine. While we had many discussion and iterations on what "reasonable/realistic" historical variations were, the GS expansion was a result of 1000's of hours of playtesting and tweaking by dozens of people. And all of this was focused on human to human play or hotseat play. In terms of North Africa, I'm afraid that there isn't any way, except for recoding the AI (which is well beyond the scope of the GS Dev team), to make the axis AI focus on North Africa. In fact, in my axis vs allied AI tutorial the allied AI almost completely ignored the Med, Italy and North Africa. It had no interest in Torch.

Again, the bottom line was that the GS expansion was optimized for human to human play or for hotseat play. The only changes made to the AI were to correct bugs either already present in the vanilla game or "introduced" by the GS expansion changes. The objective for the GS expansion with respect to AI play was to make sure that the game didn't bomb out. Anything after that, which included the strategies and tactics of the AI, was beyond the scope of the GS Dev and Tester teams.

By the way if you open the GS expansion and click on the credits you'll see the following lists of developers and testers who put in those 1000's hours for free and for the sheer enjoyment of the game to bring you the GS expansion. Also, these credits should include the CEAW player's community in general as we received countless contributions and feedback from them too.

Thanks for your attention. The Norway operation I do the same (declare war) and no they don’t want to protect ore for them it’s "reasonable and realistic". North Africa is a joke only 6 Italian divisions 5 turns. I am near Tunis and wait 2 years before Sicily "Husky". Germans protect North Africa to secure Italy and try to capture Iraq oil. Only Britain forces were pain in the ass.

Yes I may finish the fight near 1942 or 1943 but its no fun…. You make this game look real deal but how many strategy games you know that so good and based on history?(Hearts of Iron go to hell)

My changes were about technology (Messerschmitt Me.262 only after 1945 and no Mouse tank. lets be honest they produce only two prototypes and no jets for Allies too only 300 Gloster Meteor were made).Change days from 20 days to 10.Dow score were changed to 630 and beck.(at right moment Germany will attack all needed country).
So may be Mod to put DAK near Tobruk or Editor??

Let’s make it clear your team spend 40 days for MULTIPLAYR component that affects on SINGLPLAYER too. All five scenarios are equal to SINGLPLAYER. You make it free that’s nice but still if you complete the SINGLPLAY EXP you may take money for it 5-7 $ for so called DLC. The game is best turn-based historical reconstruction with life cycle near 5- 7 years.

My $0.02 on this: Playing this game solo as the allies is almost impossible unless you create very strict house rules to avoid taking advantage of the many Axis AI problems. Playing the game solo as the axis can work fairly well though because the AI is much better on defense, and I suspect most of the original CEAW solo play testing was done as the axis side.

Serious problems with the axis AI in the game:
- Axis AI ignores North Africa completely.
- Axis AI will try to defeat the low countries and France but will only make a minimal effort in protecting this territory from allied invasion after they gain the ground.
- Axis AI also does not seem to be very concerned about protecting Berlin from the west!

Some suggested house rules for playing the Allies versus the Axis AI:
- Set axis advantage at 1 down from the maximum advantage (the max advantage setting ends up just being pretty silly by 1942, with 40+ AI tech labs etc.).
- No Allied European landings until 1944.
- Edit the scenario file (back it up first!) to ensure the AI Axis never runs out of oil. [Note: Germany and Italy are countries 0 and 1 in the scenario file].
- Edit the scenario file to increase axis manpower and PP's for the Axis countries. How much you want to adjust this is up to your taste, I prefer setting axis manpower so high that the axis won't ever go below 75% and I like to add at least 35-50 PP's to the axis side (per turn).
- If you want you can also reduce the amount of Allied convoys or the value of each allied convoy in the general.txt file.
- Note that setting some of the other neutral countries (like Sweden, Turkey, Spain) to be Axis satellites will provide no assistance to the axis AI, and might actually be a negative for them.

That will end up being a pretty challenging AI game as the allied side, though it's basically a Russia versus Germany contest. Guiding the Russians will be a big challenge though as all the UK and USA can do is bomb Germany from 1940-1944. All that being said, it is a pretty boring game in comparison to taking the axis side versus the allied AI, or playing against real human beings:P.

It s WORKING!!!!I changed the balance in 1939 to make Axis not so weak.add some divisions to North Africa (1 Fighter 2 infantry 1 Tank for Germany near Tripoli) (1 tank to Italy and Destroyer near Tobruk) they stay until 1940 Italy entry so about History its better the nothing.
Norway not alone I put (German infantry and Fighter and destroyer to support army)
USSR got 8 new garrisons (don’t know why but its fun to watch how infantry protect there homeland) (By history men in 1941 try to make a last stand without equipment or training for any town village and for that Germans kill woman .children burn them alive).
Only one main problem left How to put fortress (I want to create North Africa Devil's gardens)
The game become more interesting (Norway defense with Dogfights)(North Africa as in books at first you take Tobruk then DAK come long way from Tripoli ))).Then they kick you beck and only power that stop them is RAF bombers that you try to produce since 1940)

The game become interesting because every turn something going on))) (The Technology Level is staying low until beginning of 1941 just change general.txt to 6 laboratory max.) (Using 10 day tern makes game more reasonable and realistic no jets until 1945 German new tanks appear right in time Panther near Kursk. King Tiger in Ukraine 1944(and NO Mouse NO Is-3 No Centurion).
