I'm trying to recall what I heard about this. You used a variable number of points (for which your proposal for 2011 is a proposed improvement on the approach)?

And how big were the tables? with 1" MUs?

I'm not optimistic about the NKE, but did you deliberately score yourself down because you were the ump or are they really *that* awful?

25mm on 9ft x 4 ft tables.

700/800/800/900 point lists each ued once over 4 games - so lotsof uneven games.

NKEs did very well winning all three games they played - with army routs in all 3 cases. Beat a Spartan a Palmyran and a Medieval German City States. Real score was about 63 from the 3 games. Always put 0 for me as filling up the numbers.

They are not bad at all if:

1) you are patient and play the chariots well
2) you use the mobility of the MF to give them a chance

I found the other thread on it after I posted (doh!). Sounds like you had a lot of fun leading up to it. Impressive wins against matchups none of which would be good for the Egyptians I think. A local has NKE and is in despair. I've not had any good advice to give. I guess the point about painting those striped headdress things as targets may have been premature.

AH haven't painted the stripes on yet - that might be the reason they did so well.

Would be happy to engage in a few NKE tips for players if someone starts a thread on the forum and points me at it!

I found them pretty useful, but also very very easy to get in a mess.

Did the Rampage results get fed into the rankings Si?

Cheers

Pete

Si said the results wouldn't contribute to the rankings as the variable points system could lead someone playing 3 of their 4 games against a larger point army.

Okay - don't see why that should be a problem though?

And this from the Rampage site:
Where possible players may not play against fellow club/Team players in the first 1st round, nor players whom they have played in earlier rounds, These event counts towards the BHGS National Rankings
:?

We all entered knowing that it was variable points - no reason for it not to count? And yes - I have a vested interest! 8)

You know, I don't think the BHGS was ever asked about whether the comp should or should not count in the rankings  "Non standard" formats are not usually included in the rankings.

I will talk to them about this. It wasn't my plan and the point from the Rampage site was a legacy. However I think we could certainly use all even pointed games of which there are around half. Takes a bit more work.

But Si, the BHGS ranknings are about placing in the comp, not individual games.

I have passed the scores across to the ranking team.

Hadn't realised it was on placings and as far as I am concerned that makes it useable. Have been more waryon the ELO system due to the points imbalances in individual games.
