Please... not the Error-1 bug again...

I tried to send my turn in a DAG game (Portuguese vs Pontic) 20 minutes or so ago, but it seems the dreaded Error-1 bug rears its annoying head again. :x
In exactly the same way as before too (waiting... waiting... finally cancelling, getting the error-1 message, turn turns out to be unplayed)

Apparently I have to play the turn again, which I'm not at all keen to do, as I seemed to have gotten the best out of a tricky situation. Also, chances are the new turn wouldn't be sent or saved anyway (as it wasn't in the past either).

Also, I don't dare to touch my other games now...

Please could you find a permanent fix for this? I thought you had last time, but apparently not...

I have to say, if this problem keeps popping up, I won't be keen on getting any further expansions, although I'd love to if this issue got permanently fixed forever.

Sorry for the rant, but I had to get this off my chest. I'll give the game a rest now, and check here from time to time to see if this gets fixed permanently. Otherwise, it's just too frustrating to bother to continue playing...

The problme means for some reason you could not connect to the server. It can never be completed removed as its a connection issue and your connection can drop at any time. There were bugs that made it more frequent which were fixed but it is never something that can be removed entirely.

So it's not a general issue this time?

I'll check to see if it works now.

As an afterthought: If for one reason or another there is no connection when trying to send a turn, shouldn't the system be able to save the turn so I could send it when the connection is working again?

I tried again, another game this time (The Trebbia scenario).

Alas, same story as above, and there is nothing wrong with my connection.

It seems I get this problem every few months for 1-2 weeks at a time.

First time, it was part of widespread general problem apparently. The second time (a few months ago) I seemed to be the only one affected (maybe a few others? I don't remember...). See my forum posts from back then (April - May I think). There never had been connection issues with other sites or games, and neither are there now.

Then, after one or two weeks, suddenly everything worked again, without me doing anything. I thought you guys had fixed the problem, but maybe it was coincidence...

Will I just have to live with the fact that for some mysterious reason, once every two months I won't be able to play for 1-2 weeks? I hope not...

If it only happens for you every now and then its likely to be an issue between you and the server which is not something we can do much about. If it effects others too then it could be a system problem our end but so far we've got nothing to suggest that I'm afraid.

Do you have any software running which might be inspecting data as it gets sent out? Some security software does do this - it might be mis-diagnosing the outgoing save as containing details that it shouldn't.

Just trying to work out why this oddness might be occuring.

Cheers

It’s not exactly ‘now and then’. When I can’t send turns, it’s for days or weeks on end.

I usually don't have problems, but when I do the problem doesn't just go away with trying again.

It seems to be in the hands of Fate when I can send a turn again.

The issue just comes up all of a sudden, and last time (April-May) the problem disappeared after 1 or 2 weeks.

Now I’m on my 2nd or 3rd day of not being able to send turns.

I used to think you had fixed it but apparently the problem kind of solved itself back then, just to return now.

I have Windows firewall (XP) and Kaspersky antivirus,

and I didn't change anything on my computer to start the problem or end it (neither then nor now).

No extra security software on top of that.

Also, I'm having no trouble accessing other MP games, websites, etc...

And my ISP (Telenet, one of the two big ones in Belgium) has a reliable reputation.

So I'm guessing it's not just some security issue,

because in that case I wouldn't have been able to play at all the past couple of months, no?

Also, as you see, I can’t even post this message adequately, but have to post in various short sentences,
