Terrain at Tournaments

Hi All,

Sorry but technically not a rules question. When you go to a tournament does each player take pieces to cover all the terrain options for their army? Or what is the custom here? Do tournament organizers provide the terrain pieces to keep things "fair".

I've never been to a FoG tournament, and so have no experience in this, and for the next few weeks I am playing some games with a friend to get him ready for the Amberg tournament . Sadly I can't go this year.

Most players take a box of bits of terrain. Generally you use your own bits but borrowing from an opponent or even an univolved player is not unheard of.

You don't need to take pieces to cover all the terrain options for your army. You just need the few that you are likely to use. Also, many double or even triple up. For example, a piece of broken ground can become brush by putting a few bits of lichen on it, and a wood by putting a few trees.
So depending on your army you might want something like -
A gully
A couple of hills
4 broken ground / brush/ woods pieces
3 fields (can become enclosed by adding some hedges or walls)

Thanks guys, I thought it would be something like that, but just wanted to make sure.

The events I've organized require players to bring their own terrain for the types allowed their army. So you should have a road, a river, plus some other stuff to cover the other terrain types. I have several generic pieces that provide a footprint, then I have movable trees, buildings, rocks and brush to give them the right covering.

And people are mostly pretty firendly about lending out terrain.
