I am solely a mac user and have not tried to buy or use the PC version yet.
Will it be ok for me to buy the PC copy now and then download the mac beta from the link you sent me and carry on?
OR should I wait until the proper mac version becomes available?
Thks

The Serial numbers from PC FoG, RoR and SoA work with the Mac beta

The serial numbers work but you should wait for the MAC version to come out before you buy if you have a MAC. Its very soon. Keith

Confused! There is nothing stopping you playing the Mac Beta if you have a Mac and Iain issued unique temporary keys for this I believe. Keith

I didn't see this thread until recently, but I had purchased the PC version to use the serial #s for the Mac Beta (I only have a Mac as well). Should I be worried that the serial # will stop working when the final version for the Mac is released?

The PC serials will not stop working when the game is released but it is going to be difficult as you wont be able to download the MAC version unless you have bought the MAC version.
We never intended people to get the Mac & PC versions of the game and are not really set up for that.

So this means if I have the PC version (which I previously used in a virtual machine, despite multiple problems) I can't change it to a Mac version?

Just so you know serial numbers from the PC army packs will work with the Mac version so you definitely dont need 2 copies of those. Your PC serial would work with the Mac too but you can't get the files to install the main Mac version without buying that.
To migrate from PC to Mac right now the only thing you can do is buy the Mac version to get the file for download. You don't need to use the serial number you're issued so you could give that to a friend

YOu can use your existing serial - in fact you would need to as it is registered to your Slitherine acount so using another serial would force you to use a different Slitherine account.

Thanks for the info. While I'm not happy to be buying a 2nd copy (esp. not since it was my fault for jumping the gun), I do have a friend who would probably love this game, so my extra SN will be getting a good home.

Be sure to save the installer they would need, otherwise THEY won't be able to download it, meaning they'd need to buy a copy and then give their new serial to a friend. While this kind of chain-letter scheme would work out well for us, I'm not sure it's what Iain intends

.
Cheers

OK, I bought the mac version and installed it before I saw this message. I therefore now have 2 serials associated with my account, which prevents me from using the multiplayer version.
I have a friend with a PC, and a friend with a mac. I don't have the PC installer anymore, but I do have the Mac installer. Can I transfer my Mac serial to a friend? How do I fix this?

Each account can only have one serial attached, so your account is attached to the PC serial. This is not a problem though as the PC serial works on the Mac. You just have to uninstall and reinstall on your Mac using the serial you used on your PC. To uninstall see the sticky thread about uninstalling on the Mac. Then give your friend the Mac or PC installer, whichever they need and the spare serial number you just bought.
We didnt realise we had significant numbers of Mac users already playing FoG and we're nto really set up for moving between versions so this will work but it is a bit fiddly.

OK, that seems to have worked. I sent my friend the Mac disk image and my Mac serial. I will continue with my pc serial. Great. Perfect. Thanks a bunch.
