Detailed combat information E(hits)

At the bottom of the screen, before an attack, we can see a quite detailed situation (P key) about the combat.

For example, I can see a unit having : POA=1, die rolls=4, E(hits)=1,333333
fighting a unit having : POA=2, die rolls=2, E(hits)=1

Could someone tell me exactly what that "E(hits)" is made of, and what is the meaning of the number "1" or "1,333333".

Every time I try a mathematical explanation, I find another combat with non predictable E(hits).

Sounds like estimated hits 4*33% chance to hit = average of 1.33 hits. 2*50% chance to hit = 1 hit.

I think you're right. I was confused because I mixed the prediction and the results information (on old printscreens).

Then it is the very "average" prediction of the number of hits. The real results can vary in a large range around that prediction.

Hmm, that is an interesting way to display possible results although Im not all that good w stats and probobality...

2 dice rolled that can get a hit 50%(roll a 4, 5, 6) of the time gives, I believe, a 75% chance of scoring at least one hit.... Not sure what the % chance to get 2 hits would be ..but Im pretty certain you cant just multiply .75 * 2......
