Can't seem to find in the rules where it will say how long or wide a road can be? For instance can I have a road from the long table edge to the other and one from the short edge to the other with a crossroads where they link so I can then have a village at the crossroads. Perhaps someone can tell me which page of the rules it is explained because it is not in the terrain section of the reference section?

There is no limit as such on the length of a road, but it must be from one table edge to another.

What you describe is two roads, not one

A road should be a base width wide and no more than 60 MUs long. It's in the terrain descriptions section, page 131. The terrain maximum is 1, so multiple roads are not permitted.
