is it possible that a BG in a combat rolls 3 dice and gives 4 hits?

Can you give more details? Did you see four dice roll hits in the little black box and was the unit really limited to only three dice?

I've noticed this aswell. What is happening is you are charging a bow armed unit that gets extra dice. When you move the cursor for odds it shows the correct % chance to win but doesn't indicate the correct number of dice to be rolled in the detailed explanation. Then when the combat resolves it only displays a maximum of 4 dice rolls though the unit may have rolled 6 dice. I noticed this when playing Marathon. Often the dice rolls of Persian units when charged didn't match the number of hts gotten. It is a bug with the display and not with the combat mechanic.
