Weather

Just to add a little more frustration to the game...you could add "weather"...on a random basis weather could move up or down one level each turn...at some point the gunpowder would get damp and degrade firing...as the weather got more severe...bows would begin to feel the effects...at a greater severity, units would move slower...and at the worst level the game would end prematurely...obviously would not apply to desert terrain...
