Issue that came up in a game yesterday.

Attempting to charge with a wheel and the rear corner of the unit will clip a unit, can the unit still charge? Or is it prohibited? not thinking of the contracting either.

You can wheel out of line from memory on this list, but not sure if it was specific to this or whether interpenetration of a rear corner was still not permissable.

I think it depends whose unit it is. If it is a friendly unit that you will clip but clear by the end of the charge you can clip the unit. If it is an enemy, no you can't clip. If it is a friendly unit you can't clear you can't clip.

I am reasonable certain about this as my opponent raised this when it came up in a game about 4 weeks ago. I will see if I can find the thread quoted.

You might want to add this to the FAQ updates thread as a question.

Of course you can! Provided as already stated it is a friendly unit and that you will get clear of it.

Think about what is happening IRL. The rear ranks don't all get up and move sideways as the front rank wheels. Rigid rectangular bases are an artifact of the game, not a model of anything real.

(And in any case, as has been pointed out a few times, the depth of a base is disproportionate...considering that it represents something like 200-300 soldiers fighting in something like 4-5 ranks deep...so paying undue attention to the rear corners as a limitation movement would be unreasonable.)
