Richard sorry about the delay in getting back to you but I was away from home for a week.
Re the Brother knights, I must agree that the numbers should be small but at the end of the day they are the colourful and romantic part of what is at the end of the day a small army. I was trying to represent the situation where they were a small strike force leading the attack at a critical juncture. I am happy to make the minima zero.
With regard to the Maltese militia, these were poorly armed but were defending their homes in what was a do or die situation and would therefore have been motivated more than most militia type hordes. I still believe average is worthy of consideration but perhaps we could give an option of poor or average.
Another group i see as being average mob are the Later Covenanters in the 1680s who were inspired by religious fervour and gave Government troops breaking up their gatherings a bloody nose.
