Death to those who drop figures OR... how to best fix it

One of the kids at the club dropped my Republican Romans today. Many lances and such came off the figures, how should I best fic these?

Who can think of a suitable punishment? I am thinking Chinese beach torture...or castration

The child should be made to paint 6mm minis for a year without rest.

Yeah, but when they had finished they would only drop them...

Clearly you don't want your child to do this sort of thing again, so the only sensible course of action is to chop their hands off. That way they can't pick up the figures to drop them. Seemples.

Chopping off their hands would be cruel. It would be kinder to shoot them.

Exactly.

Make them listen to an old wargamer's tales of quasi-glory on a table.

Death would still be kinder

Make them play DBMM for whole day (using someone else's minis) seems about right.

Either that or force them to listen to Hammy explain the graph that he has showing how unlucky he was in all 1,616 DBM competitions he played in. :)

Is that the graph using every DBM dice roll he ever made to prove that there was no such thing as luck for him? But he did have lucky opponents.

Please kill me.

But back to the other aim... how do I fix snapped off lances and pila etc.?

If you have all the snapped off bits, you can try and ssuperglue them back to where they broke off from. I have a few figures I have doen this with...not brilliant results, I found it hard to avoid having excess glue around the joint if I wanted it to be reasonably secure, but hey it's only really noticeable when you get right up close to the figures.

The more ambitious approach is to remove what is left of the weapon from the figure, drill through the hand, and attach either a new weapon (some manufacturers sell separate weapons, so you might be able to find something of the right dimensions, or a piece of rigid wire cut to length. I haven't ever gone this far myself, but I have seen people fix units suffering from droopy pike syndrome with good results.

For lances, spear and pike I will drill into the hand and cut the shaft of the weapon down just a tad. I put the glue ON the shaft after making sure it will be a tight fit and then carefully put the shaft of the weapon in. U want to get enpugh of the weapon shaft in the hole to make it solid without cutting down the lengtth so much it makes the bases weapons look off.

And what do I use to drill the holes with? This seems like the best plan of action in my eyes

I use a small modelling drill (Dremel in the UK). You might be able to get one in a model aircraft/model railway shop.

I'm sure you can still drink whist glueing.

I use a dremel, but if u are broke u can buy a small hand drill at most hobby shops.

Just make sure not to make the hole to big. The fit should be tight enough that u don't have to hold it while the glue dries.

Xyston sell packs of wire pikes/spears, although they are pricey. Piano wire is also supposed to be good.
