Slitherine

The purpose of this thread is to post army lists for Fantasy armies, so that if a fantasy suplement is ever offered there will be lists available to chose, modify or serve as a base. Shoot for a 400-500ish point list and they can scale it up or down to suit.

I may be in a minority, but I can't see Elves wielding axes. Just doesn't seem right to me using a Dwarvish weapon!

Imagine then as glaives or halberds or something, instead a crude battle axe

Really interesting.

I just dowloaded from Games Workshop website the free tabletop rules called "Warmaster"; i do not like Warhammer approach to tabletop game, BUT i have to say that "Warmaster" is really different from warhammer and it reminds me of DBM and even Field of Glory.

It should be interesting to see a mod converting historical miniatures on those of warmaster (those rules are played with 10mm figurines)

If there is a fantasy setting, even though I understand that list will be needed for official DAG, but really I would prefer free form list. This would be better to represent all fictionnal world.

Love the lists I would be really interested if they did in fact make a fantasy verison of FOG

Last year there had been a hint that it might be something they are considering. All the forum memories of Fantasy General that were posted seemed to have sparked some interest on slitherines part. Never heard any more about it but who knows what they might have up their sleeves for later in 2011??

Here is hoping. I would love to help with such a project. Most likely it would need to be somewhat generic in certain respects in order to avoid IP infringemrnt, but that is not really a problem as long as you are aware of it. I may have to post some material I have worked on.

Posting here thanks to the new informations concerning a future "fantasy module" dor FOG digital.

My thoughts on some generic fantasy list that should not be focused on some specific ruleset or world, i believe the "Must be" armies are:

- Humans kingdom (based on Medieval French or Germans)
- Humans horse marches (based on mongols or hunnic tribes)
- Humans free cities (based on communal italians or low countries)
- Elves (based on HYW english for long bows)
- Dwarves (mainly based on strong heavy foot like Romans)
- Orcs (based on something like barbarians, or vikings)

some others "minor races" should be allies to the main armies, so goblins to orcs and hobbits to humans/dwarves and elves...

And while we are on the subject of LOTR, we must have a Southron army replete with hardcore Oliphants!

Also Nazgul and Giant Eagles as appropriate allies?
