Hi,

do you have already some more informations about the multiplayer problems (error code 1 and error while getting the game instance) ? I am curious to know the progress of the bug fixing. Do you have already found the bug?
I would be happy if you could provide some more informations.

Thank you and best regards.

As far as I know there are no problems with MP currently. Are you still seeing any?

Cheers

Yes, i have thought thats well known.

Personally i can play multiplayer games with some opponents. But i can't start a game with my brother. Each time if i try to play with him, an error occured.

Either these nice bug:

or this bug:
viewtopic.php?t=16660

Yes with other opponents i can play but i can't start a game with him. We have reinstalled the game, reconfigured his computer but each time one of this bugs occured. Until now i have thought it's a more common problem ...
Or can you give us a hint how we can solve the problem?

Best regards,
Dirk

Some games are damaged and cannot be recovered. This may be teh case with teh games youare looking at. We've fixed the bugs to stop game becoming damaged so if you start new games it should all be fine.

Have you both updated to v1.2.6? What exactly happens on each machine?

Yes, both versions are updated to v.1.2.6.

Okay, here is a description:

- I start a game on my computer.
- My brother accepts the challenge on his computer and can make the turn, but when he try to end the turn he can't upload the turn and receive the error code 1.

That is very odd. Is it possible you have a firewall which is preventing the sending of the data (they would commonly try and stop data from being sent from apps to try and catch keyloggers etc). It is extremely odd that you can connect and in fact that you can upload the turn, but that he cannot.

Are you online at the point your brother tries to upload? It could be an IP proxy issue.

Yes, we have also suspected the firewall. But the problem occurs even with deactivated firewall. No, my brother tries to upload the turn from another location and yes with another ip adress. Hmmm, i could request my brother to visit me and try to send the turn from here ... he has installed the game on his laptop ...
If it's a problem with his router we can eliminate this problem.

Dirk

Ah - ok. Not sure why but assumed you were in the same place!

Does he have another machine he can try on? Is it a work laptop (they sometimes have extreme security settings and software which could be causing the problem).

Yes, i think he has another computer where he can install the game. We will try it and i will tell you more thereafter. But as i know, he play several other games on this laptop.

The next time you get the error message, please can you look at the error number and check whether it's 1 or -1. If it's not too much trouble, could you post a screenshot of the error?

Thanks

Hi EricS,

i have already received the screenshot. But i have realised that i can't upload an image ... i will try it at weekend.
But the error message is exactly as follows:

"Sorry, an error occured while uploading the game.
Network connection error (Code -1)
Do you want to retry?"

As you can see the error code is -1.

@Pip: Until now, my brother has not installed the game on another computer. I hope he tried it until weekend. Currently he has only very few time.

Tomorrow i am not at home for 2 days. So i can not response again before weekend.

Cheers

Hi,

now i have some more informations. My brother has reinstalled the game on another computer and the same error occur again. Do you have some more hints?
Hmmm, is it possible that some ports are blocked which are necessary? Can you tell me the ports which should be definitely open?

Cheers

If you are getting into games, then the ports should be no problem (not that we use special ports anyway).

Are you running a software firewall which might be flagging some of the outgoing data as being 'bad' in some way (some look for things that look like names, or words, or bank details, etc) and preventing the upload?

Cheers

Sorry to butt in here...but I am a SW QA guy and did work support for awhile and have learned to be careful when asking users to check the firewall. One thing we found when we had users check their firewall, is that they forget to check *all* firewalls. Generally these days users have two sometimes three firewalls protecting them without realizing it. There is the built in firewall in (XP and newer) Windows OS's, the firewall that comes built in to the DSL/Cable router...and in some cases a third party firewall like Zone Alarm or some such that the user installs not knowing of or not trusting the previous two...

Ok I am getting out of the way again... :)

No, my brother has even deactivated the firewall, but this has not changed anything. In the next week we will check if he can send the turn out of my network. If this is a problem with his router we will find it out at this way.
I can send and receive turns from my computer.

Hmm, it seems that we must wait until next week before we can clarify this theory.

Thank you for your advice gabeeg. I have this fact already in my mind. This is one of the reasons to tests this problem in my network. From here i can send turns. So if this is a problem in this context it should be solved on this way.
