Requests for additions to the FAQ

*** MODERATOR COMMENT ***

I'm stickying this as it looks useful. Please, as Gino requested, just put issues here and use other threads for actual debate. I will delete posts as I see necessary to keep this topic for its intended purpose.

*** END ***

I am starting this string to identify issues that experienced players feel should be included in the FAQ.

Please do not argue the issue(s) here back and forth among yourselves. Frankly, no one cares what your or my opinion is. Most people want to know what RBS or one of his "Team" think.

Just list the issue here so that perhaps we can demonstrate the need to update the FAQ.

If you want to argue among yourselves about a rule please start another thread.

Thank You
Gino

Issue: Do Generals Fighting in the front rank of BG's that do not rout (Battle Wagons, Artilery) have to survive a 10+ roll when the BG is removed from the table?

The battle wagon question I have replied to in that thread.
Stepping forward only occurs in a charge. Except for a flank intercept, there will be no stepping forward because there is no contact made in other intercepts.
A pursuit only becomes a charge if fresh enemy are contacted. This is the only time there will be stepping forward.
Do we need an author's comment on these two? We definitely do on the kinked column facing.

An correspondingly what is its rear? Does it have multiple fronts (preventing many flank charges), multiple rears (providing many options to evade) or both.

What is the rear of a BG facing in two directions when calculating rear support?

What exactly means "capable of charging" when calculating threatened flanks?

Or, in effect, if the kink is the elbow can we find its arse?

Can a BG advance and contract whilst in a restricted area?

(I'm confident it can't but have lost track of the number of times I've had to explain / defend it)

Can skirmishers who pass a CMT to charge non-skirmishers charge into other non-skirmishers when their declared target evades/routs or to contact interceptors?

Does it have a facing at all? Does it have an all-round rear? Can it evade at all? (sitting there and taking it from the rear would certainly be easier to adjudicate) (ouch)

Can BG turn 90 and then shift upto half a base to avoid friends when it 'advances' afterwards.

Like Pete I am now sure that it can't but I know that I used to play that it could.

Can a BG contract outside a restricted area and then advance into it, which I think is a slightly different question?

What does "could end in" on page 58 in relation to whether shock troops need to CMT not to charge mean?
