I am new to this and have not figured if I can search on prior topics, so please forgive me if my question is redundant, but here it is:

Page 18 in the FOG rule book defines shock troops by six bullet points, one of which is "foot with impact foot capability". I have looked for a listing of "impact foot" but without success. How do I know if a given troop type has "impact foot capability?

In the army list(s). Under: Capabilities>Close Combat it will list impact foot; swordsmen, pikes, etc...

Indeed. Thanks. Impact foot are not common I gather from now looking at several armies and none of those I have been building have them. :? :?

They're fairly common, Romans for example. Although more in ancients than later. In dark ages/medieval, dailami and almughavars are the main examples.

Gauls, Vikings, Romans, etc. are all impact foot. Think of troops who win battles because of the impetus of the initial charge, or due to other factors at impact (like the Roman Pilum). Those are the ones that the army lists will list as impact foot. As the previous poster stated, more common in early periods, less common in later periods.

Vikings aren't impact foot. They are either Offensive Spear or Heavy Weapons.
