I apologies if this question has been asked before.

When attempting to shoot with units that also have the option of charging the target, is there a command that will make them stand & shoot?
It really gets old for my archers to suicidally charge into knights when all I wanted for them to do was fire their bows.

Make sure you dont click on the sword but the bullseye (when you point the cursor over the enemy unit)

I am thinking that is your mistake too. You are actually telling them to charge, they are not going off on their own. Bow armed troops have to pass a CMT to charge so are more likely to refuse than to just go running off into the knights. When you move your cursor over the enemy make sure the round target is showing and click that. If you accidentally click the sword they will think you want them to charge and will go running in to their deaths.

I had thought that I WAS clicking only on the target icon, but it could be that I am slightly off.
I will try this again.

Just try to make sure the target is up before you click the mouse. I have had cases where I wanted my archers to charge in and accidentally clicked the shoot icon instead. Just as frustrating but less deadly to the shooters

zoom the screen in a bit if you have it zoomed way out
