I have been having a fair amount of success with the Irish and Anglo Irish armies especially in rough terrain against heavy infantry and heavy cavalry armies. The shear size of the armies 65+ points gives them an incredible ability to absorb casualties, the heavy weapon heavy infantry or deadly against disrupted or softened up pike targest (not so hot against fresh pike formarions). The Anglo Irish army can deploy quite a few archers with some serious firepower...my only question is how did the Irish fail to conquer the wilderness regions of the world with an army like these...

My Swiss are fighting an Anglo-Irish mob currently. The main thing is the sheer volume of light infantry that can be taken, making it necessary to rout most of the Anglo-Irish non-lights to break them. The army I'm playing has 72 break points at 600pts. They get quite a few superior heavies too, and some decent longbowmen, they do seem quite choice, especially in terrain.

In a points game you get lots of men because they are poorly equipped and they are cheap to buy. In the real world the opposing army doesn't leave half its men behind because they are better equipped :)
