Can I play SoA without having RoR?

I bought FoG from Slitherine and RoR from Matrix so apparently I have to wait on the special Matrix patch. My question is can I uninstall, reinstall FoG then apply the Slitherine 1.25 patch and SoA then install RoR at a later date. In other words can I buy and install only the expansion packs I'm interested in or do I have to buy all of them in order of release. This patch system between Slitherine and Matrix is really FUBAR if you ask me.

You only need to buy the expansions you want. The problem with the patches is we are doing more than anyone else does. Usually patches are not compatible across publishers and we're trying to do everythign we can to make it so, but it is not easy!

I understand and appreciate Iain. I answered my own question by trying it out what I was asking about and it did work. My question now is how do I go back and install the Matrix version of RoR since I've already installed FoG, patch 1.11 (Slitherine), patch 1.25 (Slitherine) and SoA? Seems to me that the patching process is going to be FUBAR and I'm always going to need the special Matrix edition patches 1.11 and 1.25 to get my Matrix RoR to work. It's a little annoying since the patches should be the same. Of course I could have just saved myself a lot of hassle by purchasing directly from Slitherine and that's what I plan on doing in the future.

We've changed teh system so going forwards the army packs have no version specific data in them, meaning you can apply them in any order. Matrix are adding teh same registry keys we use so our patches will be compatible with each other. It's a lot more complex than anythign we've done before and been a bit of a learning experience but I think we're just about there now so that in future it will be simpler for you guys.

Sounds good. Thanks again. And thanks for making such a great game.
