get an error message because it says program updated may be missing.
I have a *64 Windows system, I think the installer may be looking in the wrong place.

Do you know where the app installed to? Did you alter the default install directory?
Cheers

C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine
How do I tell the installer to put the patches in there?

Hmmm - I think here it might be that the 64bit system is tricking us. It often moves apps which it emulates as 32bit into the (x86) folder, but I don't know if it tells the installer that!
Try this as a fix:
1 : Start regedit
2 : Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Slitherine\FOG
3 : If the FOG_PATH entry is not correct (that is, doesn't show where your install actually is) then change it to correctly point to the install
4 : Try installing the patch again.
Let me know if this works for you.
Thanks

You need to have Slitherine version 1.1.0 installed to apply this patch. If you have the Matrix version they will be releasing that soon.

I am having the same problem and am running Vista 64. I have confirmed the path is correct in regedit and that my present version of the game is 1.1.2. I was playing multiplayer fine yesterday and my FOG games were all purchased through Slitherine.
The only thing that may be having an impact is that my game is not loaded to the default position in C: because I have a partition I have set up for games (E:). As stated though the regedit path points to where the game is actually loaded.

Hmmm - I wonder if there is something odd going on. I know that the x64 versions do stuff 'silently' which might be confusing the path checking.
We might need to have an over-ride to work around this issue unless I can watch what it's doing.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thinking about it, that message would come up because of a versioning mismatch. What are the values of the VERSION key you see in regedit? They should be correct as you say you installing over 1.1.2, but it would explain the problem.

Some more info.
I cannot find anywhere in Regedit that has the serial number. It has three entries and they are:
1. (Default) - REG_SZ - (Value not set)
2. FOG_PATH - REG_SZ - C:\Program Files .............
3. key - REG_SZ - 8549 ...............
Is number 1 above the area that should have the version in it?
Also in Regedit it is not:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Slitherine\FOG
on my machine instead it is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Slitherine\FOG
Hope that helps.

Hmmm - that is the problem then. Once you have installed 1.1.2 there should be a version number in there. Perhaps the x64 automagic rerouting of registry values is to blame, but I'm not sure why it would only be affecting some of the entries and not all of them.
Are you sure you have downloaded and installed 1.1.2 onto the machine?

Reloaded 1.1.0 -> 1.2.5. All good now. SOA loaded as well and games played. Problem solved.

Missed installing 1.1.2. Thought this was source of error with trying to install 1.2.5 and SOA. No! Get same patch error message when attempt to install 1.1.2. Any fix to this broken chain or should I refund SOA since can't be played on either my Windows XP notebook or Vista desktop?

If you bought the game from Matrix you need the Matrix patch for FoG 1.2.5 and then you will be able to install SoA.
Can't install 1.1,2, 1.2.5 and SOA

I downloaded the patches from Slitherine site and pre-order purchased SOA from Slitherine site with Digital River download. Get error message on attempt to install 1.1.2, 1.2.5 and SOA. I un-installed all FOG and ROR files and re-installed in order of original and patches - same error once I got to 1.1.2 installation stage after it installed 1.0, 1.01, 1.03 and ROR. All the installers are in same folder. Windows XP system. Next?

If you have the original Field of Glory from Matrix you may need to get the Matrix 1.2.5 patch. Once you have this you will be able to install SoA from either Slitherine or Matrix and all future patches will be cross compatible.
Sorry for any confusion.

After looking more carefully at Slitherine download page and the patches on my systems, I realized hadn't installed 1.1.1 - list of patches getting long. I installed it and everything after installed without error. My apologies for taking up your time on my omission. For closure, here is the list of programs and patches anyone else having this problem may want to be sure that they installed to avoid patch error message: Field of Glory 1.0, FOG patch 1.01, FOG patch 1.1.1, FOG patch 1.1.2, FOG patch 1.2.5, FOG patch 1.03, Rise of Rome 1.1.0, Storm of Arrows

Ok, this is weird. I have 1.1.0 installed and working on this PC. But, when I start regedit and navigate as requested below, there is no Slitherine folder anywhere that I can find, and no FOG. ?

If there is really no folder there then the game has not installed properly. Make sure you're looking in the right place as the resgistry has lots of similarly named folders.
