There isn't a West Sudanese list in the FoG army list books I'm afraid.

Not that I am aware of - and FoG:R lists are the thing currently being worked on for publication.

Your 'friend' could convert the DBM list and post it in the player designed lists forum for comment/future adoption.

I attempted and submitted various sub-saharan FoG lists that didn't get into Lost Scrolls. Whether these and the other 'Forgotten Realms' will ever appear as downloads in the future - who knows? As Nik has said, Richard et al are mighty busy with FoG:R for the forseeable future.

Cheers

I just begin FOG, after having played West Sudanese in DBM, too.
It was not my best results army, but I have the figs and had fun with it. So that 's a kind of frustration.

Does anybody have an experience in converting a "DBM army" towards FOG ?
I have very few experience in FOG, so I don't feel capable of doing this for the moment.

West Sudanese was my first army some 29 years ago.
Learnt a lot of hard lessons with this army over many years.
Capable of winning big occassionally and losing a lot even when you do everything right.

If I remember correctly:

All troops should be Undrilled
Lots of Archers - Medium Foot, Average, Unarmoured, Bow
Mounted - 1 Unit Cavalry, Armoured, Superior, Lance or Light Spear, Swordsmen, the rest would be Protected, Average, Lance or Lt Spear
Upto 1 unit of Medium Foot, Protected, Superior, Swordsmen
upto 3 Units of Medium Foot, Protected, Average, Javelin, Light Spear
Light Foot - all average wth a mix of Protected, Javelin, Light Spear or Unprotected Bow
Also recall 1 unit of Heavy Foot, Protected, Average, Swordsmen
Should also be able to have some field fortifications but don't know how to apply this as it was plashed wood edge!
Also 3 herds of stampedeing cows were allowed - expendables like Scythed Chariots - the only thing these ever killed were my own troops!

East Sudanese exchange the number of Archer and Medium Light Spearmen units

Tuareg Allies - as per Lost Scrolls - in fact the infantry were pretty much interchangeable

This has probably been totally upended by greater research in the meanwhile but who really knows?

Thank you Bert

That's exactely what I remember from this army.
Indeed, not a killer for tournaments... But stampeding cattle is quite fun to play with

Your welcome.......

and Good Luck - you will need it.

Eventually I bought a Macedonian Army - boy was it easier to play with.

Somewhile later Late Romans - even if you got everything wrong at deployment you could still win with these!

But I digress.
