Despite some early glitches the first Field of Glory Digital tournament, administered from the International Wargames Federation World Championships event held in Athens this week-end was a huge success and great fun for everyone taking part.

One of the highlights of the event was a display of Hoplites drill and tactics by the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.koryvantes.org/koryvantes/sh ... yvantes re enactment group, they were very impressive and their weaponry and armour looked pretty impressive. It was very satisfying to see that we seem to have captured their tactics in the game.

For the tournament we decided to use historical settings as this allowed the players to fight the same battle from both sides. The main advantage of this was that there was very little down time and the players were engaged constantly throughout the week end. The quality of play was extremely high and clearly we have some Alexanders in the making.

In the end it went right to the wire with any one of 4 players poised to lift the Championships going into the final round.

So congratulations to John Browning the first FoG DIGITAL WORLD CHAMPION.
The short list of prize winners is.

1st - Xiccarph
2nd - PeterGarnett
3rd - Yann

We are keen to take this wonderful experience further and are looking at organizing more online tournaments in the future.
Check back on the site for further updates.
