Otterburn 1388

Hi,

As I'm generally more fond about historical or semi-historical scenarios, I tested a little with the Scenario editor and the new images/pre-defined units. The result is a scenario for Otterburn 1388 between the Scots under the Earl of Douglas and Henry "Hotspur" Percy.

You can download it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/540539/Otterburn%201388.zip. It's really the result of playing around. So please don't expect a polished scenario. Anyway I thought, it may be a good idea to have something to play and test around which is not a D.A.G. generated battle.

As we're in a beta, a few notes and questions: a) All spear-units in the spearmen folder carry pikes as weapons by default.

b) Maybe I din't notice these attributes before, or they are simply new: But what's the use of "Medieval=true/false" and "Rear Rank". Especially the rear rank stuff seems interesting as the attributes are "nil/MF Bow/MF Crossbow/MF Longbow/..."

Comments are welcome

Great little battle! Played it twice as the Scots vs AI and human opponent. Two victories for me but not easy ones. Thanks for this scenario!

In the TT army lists, many armies have mixed BGs of troops where the front rank troops are most often HF Defensive Spearmen and the rear rank troops are MF with bow/crossbow/longbow. I assume that this attribute is meant to reflect this in terms of FoG PC where the equivalent BGs are a single type and hence the different rear rank is indicated via this attribute. Such troops should fire as LF and LH do and have fewer missile attacks but should probably also get the extra attacks at impact that reflect the rear rank overhead shooting support that MF bowmen currently get. I don't know exactly h ow this is currently implemented in the beta so Keith will have to address the details.

Hi Lupus - this looks very nice - can we include it in the SoA update & you'll get credited.

I just noticed that there is an option Medieval - True/False when editing a unit in the scenario editor. In the Otterburn scenario there are some units marked as true, some as false.

I tried to set them all to true - not really knowing what it is. If some units were forgotten, that was by accident. I will fix it tomorrow or so. BTW, at least one of the Scottish servant BGs have no weapons. I will fix that as well...
