Mixed Battle Groups

Hey
A question about mixed battle groups
Say we have a mixed battle group of 4 protected light spear swordsmen and 4 unprotected bow - all MF (A) v a battle group of eight protected impact foot swordsmen - MF (B)

A A A A
A A A A
B B B B
B B B B

In the impact phase BG A would have 12 (8 front rank, 4 support shooting) dice at a (-) and BG B would have 8 dice at a (+)

That right?

What happens in the melee
Would A get 8 dice at equal or 4 at equal and 4 at (--), What would B get?

Say a base was killed in the impact phase, which base would be removed an archer or swordsmen?
Now what would the POAs be?
Thanks

Sam

You have it correct in impact.

In melee, second rank contributes dice but POAs are calculated according to the front rank. Thus 8 dice each at evens. A casualty must be removed from the front rank, so after that a bow base would move forward to front rank and then you have to roll dice in two sets: 2 dice at ++ vs. 1 at -- (assuming you leave the gap in the back rank behind the bowman in front rank), and 6 dice vs. 6 dice at evens.
