Velite Heroes of the Republic!

Scummy Seleucid cataphracts had charged the HF BG to the right of Flavius' average, heavy impact foot BG. The enemy cataphracts were beside him. Could he turn and crach into their flank?
Only prob was the Seleucid pike phalanx opposite his front with a tiny 4pak of velites between Flavius' men and the pike points. He'd save the army if the velites could stand and receive the pike charge. He'd save the army if the velites withstood the impact. He'd save the army if the velites weathered the full brunt of the pikes in melee.
The Romans turn and set up their charge. Flavius (troop commander) scoots over to the velites to shout speeches and hurl insults at the enemy.
The pikes charge. The velites stand!
Enemy cataphracts also charge the hapless heroes. (So...one file of pikes hits front right velite base, cataphracts hit the left. Both enemy Bg have overlap on the velites.)
Impact: Cataphracts 1 hit. Velites give 1 back.
Pikes 0 hits. Velites give 1 back. Pikes test...fail...roll 1 on death roll. 
Melee: Cataphracts 4 dice + pikes 4 dice to velites 1 die each. Lots of hits (4 I think) and none or maybe 1 back. Velites pass their test but lose a base.
