One Base in Contact w Two Bases: Who Fights?

Situation:
3 bases of cataphracts (in 1 BG) contact:
a) 1 base of HF Off Sp (by about 5mm of the rigthand cataphract base) (sp part of a BG stretching further to the cataphract right)
+
b) 2 bases of HF Off Sp (contacting 3 of the cataphract bases)
+
c) 1 base of HF Imp (touching most of the lefthand base of the 3 cataphract bases)
So...3 cataphract bases impact 4 enemy bases.
Question came up:
1) Which of the enemy bases fight? The owner of the 4 bases chooses (and can choose not to fight w the Imp HF since a tiny part of the adj Off Sp unit is also in contact with the cataphract base...or...the HF Imp base has to fight since it is mostly in contact with the cataphract base?
And does it make any difference whether a base belongs to one BG or another...i.e: If that BG of 3 cataphract bases contacts 3 different enemy BGs, do you decide who fights based on bases or based on BGs?
2) During melee...conforming to the left (2mm or so) and lining the HF Imp base up was not possible. Does it shift all the way to the other side as overlap/melee-w-othe-enemy or does it not conform?
